Rooflights and daylighting

Daylight is the cheapest lighting a hall will ever have. It just has to stay watertight and must not become a thermal bridge.

Continuous daylight strips

Ridge or in-plane pitched and barrel-vault rooflight strips. The most effective way to get even, glare-free daylight into a hall. We deliver them complete with supporting structure and the junction into the roof envelope.

Dome lights

The cheaper option for smaller halls and supplementary daylight. Supplied with an insulated upstand and, where needed, an opening vent.

GRP and polycarbonate in the façade

Translucent panels set directly into the wall build-up, on the same module as the sandwich panels. Daylight without window openings and without losing thermal performance.

Smoke and heat exhaust

Rooflights are frequently combined with smoke and heat exhaust ventilation. We install certified assemblies including controls and the tie-in to the building's fire system.

FAQ

Won't the hall overheat in summer?

Not with a correctly sized area and diffusing materials. Overheating comes mainly from oversized clear rooflights. We set the recommended area from the hall's orientation and use.

Does polycarbonate survive hail?

Good UV-protected multiwall polycarbonate does — it is far more impact resistant than glass. Service life is around 20 to 25 years, after which transmission drops.

Can you replace old yellowed rooflights?

Yes, replacing rooflight strips is one of the most common partial refurbishments. We do it in sections with temporary covering, usually without interrupting operations.
